The Guide to Making Tinfoil Dinners
One of the best parts about the outdoors is the scrum diddly umpcious meals you can eat. Now I know you're thinking that trail mix and a few granola bars are not your idea of one of the greatest meals on earth but have no fear, you have so much more to learn. For basic hikes, an apple and a few other snacks will certainly suffice. But when it comes down to a camp out, there are a few meals that are simple to make and will be the highlight of your night. Before leaving on your camp out, pack your own version of these ingredients in tinfoil and once the fire is up and roaring, place your meal on some hot coals.
What you need (all ingredients quantities are down to your own decision based on how much you want of them in your meal):

What you need (all ingredients quantities are down to your own decision based on how much you want of them in your meal):
- Potatoes
- Carrots
- Onions
- Blade Roast
- Garlic
- Salt
- Black Pepper
- Butter
- Water
- Tin foil
Instructions:
- 1. Slice all ingredients into cubes.
- 2. On a large square sheet of foil, layer beef, potato cubes, carrots, onion and garlic. Sprinkle with salt and pepper, top with butter and a tablespoon of water.
- 2. Roll edges of tin foil together and seal tightly. (place inside a ziploc bag to prevent leakage in your day pack)
- 3. Bury it in campfire coals for about an hour. You can eat it right out of the foil, or empty it into a dish. (CAUTION: contents and tinfoil will be hot)
Basically, if you're spending a night in the outdoors you mine as well bring a little touch of home with you. While others are pulling out cold sandwiches, you can have a hot meal of the most delicious kind. The contents will be hot, so make sure to take the proper precautions when removing your meal from the fire and consuming it.
